The Story of Julian Lopera

Born in Colombia and raised in Miami, Julian Lopera is a first-generation college graduate who understands firsthand the challenges and opportunities that come with pursuing higher education as an immigrant. His journey inspired him to create this scholarship to help other first-generation students achieve their academic and professional dreams.

Today, Julian serves as a Senior Vice President and Wealth Management Advisor at Merrill Lynch, where he provides guidance to individuals and families on building and preserving their wealth. Recognized on the 2025 Forbes Top Next Gen Advisor list, he continues to lead with purpose and integrity. For more than seven years, Julian has also mentored youth through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami, reflecting his deep commitment to community and empowerment.

Eligibility

  • First Generation college student at the University of Florida (incoming freshman - junior)
  • Born outside of the United States
  • Demonstrate financial needs
